New Home & a Book Giveaway!

I’m excited to officially launch Books, the Universe, and Everything on its new home!

I’ve moved here from emilyw.vox.com, and have copied over all my posts from there by hand. I still have a little work to do on the design and the sidebar, especially adding all the blogs I read to the blog roll!

You can grab my updated RSS feed here. I’ve also created a Facebook fan page where I’ll post links to new posts.

In honor of “the move,” I’m hosting a book giveaway! Two winners, chosen with the Random Number Generator from all entries, will receive their choice of one of my favorite books:

Unaccustomed Earth by Jhumpa Lahiri
The Code of the Woosters by P. G. Wodehouse
The Trouble With Poetry by Billy Collins
The Mysterious Benedict Society by Trenton Lee Stewart
The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster
A Girl Named Zippy by Haven Kimmel

To enter: Become a Fan of Books the Universe & Everything on Facebook. (You can use the Facebook widget to the right, or click here to visit the Facebook page and click the “Become a Fan” button from there.)

For an extra entry: Tweet or blog a link to this giveaway post, and leave a comment here with a link to your tweet or post.

Other notes about the giveaway:
-If you don’t have a Facebook account, or if you don’t want to become a Fan on Facebook for any reason, you can do the Twitter or Blog post option for an entry. Be sure to leave a comment here with the link.
-If you are already a fan on Facebook, you’ll automatically be entered.
-This giveaway is open worldwide; I will ship internationally.

This giveaway will be open until midnight eastern time on November 18, 2009.

Thanks and welcome to Books, the Universe, and Everything’s new home! :)

  1. Please pick me; I am a fan of yours (on Facebook and also in general). To increase my chances of a pity win, if nothing else, I have never read The Phantom Tollbooth. (I actually haven’t read any of those books, but The Phantom Tollbooth is probably the saddest one I haven’t read.)

  2. Congratulations on the move. The site looks great. Unfortunately you always host giveaways for books I’ve already read and own. :) But I will still become a fan on facebook and let everyone know about your shiny new blog.

  3. I’m loving the new home Emily! You made this through wordpress and then opted for a domain name right? Just wondering, when you do that do you still have all the same wordpress dashboard and show up on the wordpress tag pages and blog surfer? I was thinking of doing the same thing eventually so was wondering. :)
I’m already a fan, and I neither have read nor own any of those books! Lol but I would feel a little bad at winning having won in your last giveaway too! I really need to get my act together and host one of my own…

  4. Congrats on the new home! Love the design! Thanks for doing another giveaway, that´s so great. I´m all for The Code of the Woosters :)

  5. Congratulations on the move, Emily! Your new internet home is wonderful! I love the ‘bookish’ feel of the page :) Thanks for celebrating your move with a book giveaway!

Have become a fan in Facebook! Have also posted about your blog and your book giveaway at : http://vishytheknight.wordpress.com/2009/11/09/book-giveaway/

I would love to get ‘The Phantom Tollbooth’, but I want Kelly to win it :) I have read ‘The Code of Woosters’ before. So, it will be nice if I win any of the other books. Hope I am lucky :)

  6. hi, i found your blog through Ruth who tweeted about the giveaway, and it’s funny, just recently i thought of how i haven’t read a good book in a while, and i used to read so much before.
so i am glad i found your blog and have bookmarked it. i will definitely be following your recommendations!

Thanks for hosting another Giveaway, I haven’t read any of those books yet :) and I’d like to get Unaccustomed Earth.

  8. I really do like your new page. It looks so much better. When you open the page you just feel welcome. And that’s great.
That header, or de links to twitter and rss also look special. Just an amazing style.
