Today was my very first Yankees game. My family is visiting and our activity today was going to see the Yankees play at Yankee Stadium. We bought these tickets months ago, thus had no way of knowing that today would be cloudless and 95 degrees.
However, the stadium was surprisingly pleasant, especially when the shade from the top thing finally covered our row. And the wind was steady and incredibly refreshing.
No one in my family is the biggest Yankees fan, but I like them more now that I live in New York, and we’ll all cheer for them as long as they’re not playing the Tigers. (And Derek Jeter is from our hometown, Kalamazoo; which is pretty cool.) In fact, I’m happy they demolished the Anaheim Angels, because I’m still bitter about the Anaheim Mighty Ducks eliminating the Red Wings in this year’s playoffs. Yes, that is crossing sports hatred across genres, and morphing it into hatred of a certain city’s teams, but I don’t care. I do not like the Ducks, and I can only imagine people who like the Ducks might also like the Angels. Crazy Disney teams.
Anyway, a good time was had by all – with the exception of Ben, who was hot and not interested and spent most of the time vocalizing his desire to leave. We ended up leaving after the seventh inning stretch, because it was hot and we were sticky, and to beat the rush home.
