Week 1 in Michigan was all about taking it easy – we read, cooked, grilled, exercised, walked the dog, rode our bikes, and watched movies with my brother. It was lovely. Next week is about doing All The Things. We have a lot of fun stuff planned all over southwest Michigan, I hope the weather stays good for us!

This week I posted a review of Modern Romance by Aziz Ansari and my June Polysyllabic Spree – all the books I bought and read last month.
READING
I finished Saint Mazie this week, and now I’m reading (and greatly enjoying) Kitchens of the Great Midwest by J. Ryan Stradal. I’m also still slowly making my way through Anna Karenina and am a bit surprised by how much I love it. My friend and I are doing a readalong together, and we’ve spaced out the schedule so that we still have time to read other books. We just finished part 2, so we’re about 25% through. We’ll finish by the end of the summer.
WATCHING
We started watching Rob Delaney & Sharon Horgan’s new series on Amazon, Catastrophe. It’s so good! Rob Delaney is one of my favorite comedians, and I’m really happy this series is having so much success. I’m new to Sharon Horgan, but she’s so awesome too. I highly recommend checking it out.
LISTENING
I’m listening to the final novel in the eight book Anne of Green Gables series, Rilla of Ingleside. This one is a bit more poignant than the others as it’s set at the start of WWI, and the young men of Prince Edward Island are heading off to fight for Britain in Europe.
LINKING
- I’ve written before about how much I enjoyed Dan Harris’s book 10% Happier, and he narrates this great little two minute video that explains meditation: why and how do do it. If you’re not sold yet, there are cute animated mice in it.
- I love this Humans of New York that makes an important point about Conservation.
- Next up on my To Bake List: these incredible looking Milk Chocolate Cookies and Cream cookies from Joy the Baker.

How was your week, friends?
It’s so nice to be able to travel vicariously through you, I always have fun. Can’t wait for the upcoming travel posts! I’ve heard great things about Catastrophe, I’ll have to add it to my ever-expanding TBW list (is this a thing? If not, it should be)
I have fun writing them, so it’s so lovely to hear that others enjoy reading them! Thank you! Massive PEI post coming tomorrow, and I’ll be sharing a lot of photos from our week of adventures in Michigan as well.
I definitely have a TBW list – it should totally be a thing. I hope you enjoy Catastrophe whenever it comes up on your own TBW list! :D
I just watched the first three episodes of Catastrophe tonight and am enjoying it so far. I wasn’t familiar with either of the actors previously, but the folks on Pop Culture Happy Hour were fans so I decided to give it a shot after I got Amazon Prime this week.
I’m glad you’re enjoying it! And you’re already halfway done! That’s the only unfortunate thing about British TV – the seasons are so short!
I’m so, so glad you’re loving Anna! :)
Me too! I just passed a very lengthy farming / Levin section, which was a tiny bit of a slog, but still kind of interesting in its own way — just a bit hard to understand. I’m pack into the main Anna plot now and it’s back to moving right along. It’s such a wonderful book!
